Marine engineering is the branch of study that deals with the design, development, production and maintenance of the equipments used at sea and on board sea vessels like boats, ships etc. It’s adjoining are spheres like naval architecture and nautical science. A marine engineer is a professional who is responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all major mechanical and engineered equipments on board a ship. There are many mechanical systems that help in the operations of any vessel like the propulsion mechanics, electricity and power generation system, lubrication, fuel systems, water distillation, lighting and air conditioning system etc.

Two-thirds of the earth is covered with water. For engineering students who don’t mind getting their feet wet, the diverse field of marine engineering offers many career opportunities in one of the most growing and sustaining job markets.

The major advantage of becoming a marine engineer is that students entering careers in marine engineering have nearly 100% placement rates because the demand for them is always so great.

Maybe as a kid you were seasick one too many times, and the idea of spending three months on the Pacific makes you a little queasy. If you’re not too keen on the idea of being at sea for months, don’t fret; marine engineering needs plenty of talented engineers on shore, too. One area that is currently seeing growth by leaps and bounds is port security.

Another factor increasing the number of marine engineering positions are the latest developments in moving natural gas from ports to the pipeline.

Getting Your Feet Wet

Unlike the information technology sector and other industries that seem to fluctuate radically when it comes to job placement, maritime not only guarantees a higher placement rate, the starting salaries aren’t too bad either.

The career opportunities available to future marine engineers are exciting; students may work on projects that have a global impact from mobile oilrigs in deep waters to keeping the shore side safe through port security. And the added benefit of a good starting salary and secure job market should make any engineering student think about a career in marine engineering.

Master’s Degree in Project Management is ideal for managers who want to “juggle three balls- TIME, COST and QUALITY” together. It is good for people who want to obtain, or expand existing knowledge of project management, motivate people and achieve cost- effective results.

Project Management is one of the fastest-growing and most popular areas of business education. It is especially relevant during financial crises and times of especially limited economic resources. You will change jobs more than seven times in your career. As this rate increases, the positions you will hold will be higher and higher. This degree of Master in Change Management will equip you with a unique vision and the tools necessary to make an outstanding career in both business and public administration.

The main focus of this program is to develop strategic thinking that is responsive to change and to give our students practical skills for changing organizations of all sizes by understanding the nature of change in a global and historical perspective. In a complex and shifting environment, this approach gives our students a sustainable competitive advantage over traditional management programs.

The unique character of the program is based on a combination of key factors:

– an ambitious intellectual design that addresses the strategic theoretical and practical challenges of change management

– top-quality courses taught by leading scholars and lecturers from Oxford, EMLYON, Georgetown, RANEPA, HSE, and Skolkovo

– a stimulating community of foreign and Russian students from some of the leading American and international universities (Stanford, Harvard, Brigham Young, RANEPA, HSE, Istanbul University, Pontificia Universidad Católica, etc.).

Change management and Russian transformation. Russia has experienced tremendous historical transformations over the past 30 years, which, taken in a historical and global context, provides a unique setting for the study of change management. The mission of the program is to help future public servants and top managers with diverse educational and professional backgrounds to better understand the general nature of social change, to study the history of transformations in Russia, and to provide them with the analytical tools and practical skills necessary to manage change successfully.

Thus, the main subjects of study are economic, historical, social, and cultural drivers of change, reinforced by the development of the practical skills of change management. Criticism of the two extreme management views – voluntarism (if there is a good plan, everything will happen in accordance with it) and fatalism (nothing can be changed if it does not change by itself) – is the basis of this educational approach. Common sense, practical experience, and theory are brought together to help bright and ambitious people better understand and manage change.

Target Audience. The Change Management degree is aimed at modern-thinking and smart Russian managers who are interested in public service, change management, and in understanding the systematic effects of ongoing reforms. Managers in contemporary society need to understand the broader context that influences the process of transformation. Foreign students who plan on having careers in this region (in the diplomatic corpus, top management, or as strategic analysts) have a unique chance to become acquainted first-hand with the history of transitional reforms and business cases in change management.

Carreer development:

  • Corporate business: top management, GR, strategy department, consulting
  • Public service: economic ministries, developmental agencies, regional administrations
  • International organizations: World Bank, OECD, NGOs, developmental agencies

Duration: 2 years

Requirements: TOEFL (IBT) scores not lower than 80, IELTS not lower than 6. Those students who have earned a bachelors or masters degree in English are not required to submit TOEFL/IELTS scores.

Mini MBA  – 1 year
Short program that provides an overview of management essentials are in demand as a dislocated workforce discovers the value of a little business know-how.
They are boon to entrepreneurs
