Have you thought of studying Civil Engineering in Russia?

Come study Civil engineering in Russia with Council for Foreign Education in Russia, the official International Education partner of leading Russian State Universities and Russian National Research State Universities.

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. The world of Civil Engineering is a world of creating things that others say can’t be created, making the structures that define our modern world.

Other than military engineering, civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline in the world, with a history that goes back over 4,000 years. The royal engineers of Pharaoh’s court devised the pyramids of Egypt as a final resting place for their king. Since then, civil engineers have created structures which have marveled the world; everything from the Great Wall of China, to the Colosseum in Italy, to the Taj Majal in India to the pyramid of Chichen Itza, Mexico. In fact, all seven of the Wonders of the World were designed and created by civil engineers.

Today’s civil engineers face the challenge of creating structures which at times seen to defy gravity, defy engineering science and even defy logic. Yet, these amazing structures are firmly based in scientific principle; seeming to bend scientific laws to meet the needs of the architect.

Founded in 1907 this faculty is one of the fastest growing in Russia.

Preparation of students is carried out by teachers of the faculty – academicians and corresponding members of Russian Academy of Sciences, Professors and Doctors of science. Each student has the opportunity to travel for training and practice in foreign universities.

Careers in Civil Engineering

  • Structural engineering – creating the structural elements of design, whether for bridges, or skyscrapers. Probably the oldest single specialty in civil engineering, going all the way back to Pharaoh’s pyramids.
  • Geotechnical engineering – concerned with the rock and soil which supports the structures that other civil engineers design.
  • Environmental engineering – designing systems for the treatment of chemical, biological and thermal wastes.
  • Materials engineering – these are the experts on the various materials which other civil engineers use for their projects.
  • Water resource engineering – concerned with the collection and management of water. Some of the earliest known civil engineers were the Roman engineers who created the aqueducts.
  • Earthquake engineering – a specialty dealing with creating buildings and other structures which can withstand the stresses of earthquakes without falling.
  • Coastal engineering – managing the coastal areas of our country, including marshlands. Coastal engineers create defenses against flooding and erosion.
  • Transportation engineers determine ways to meet the increasing travel needs of people, goods, and materials on land, air, and water.

Mini MBA  – 1 year
Short program that provides an overview of management essentials are in demand as a dislocated workforce discovers the value of a little business know-how.
They are boon to entrepreneurs
They are a stepping stone to executive MBA (EMBA)

With rising unemployment, more dislocated workers are looking for educational opportunities to become retrained or more skilled to compete in the labor market. This provides them with applied knowledge that makes them more marketable in the labor market right away. And that is a very, very attractive benefit right now.

A mini MBA would be especially useful for someone who is working at a company but doesn’t want to take time off to do a full MBA course and also doesn’t want the stress of taking a full part-time MBA at the same time as working. But they feel the need to get new aspects of business administration under their belt to help their career.

Objectives

All program modules are united through one objective — the appreciation of business value — and answer the following questions:

  • Which strategy will help our company succeed on the market and beat the competition?
  • Which marketing methods will help us to implement this strategy?
  • How will our achievements affect our financial performance? How will our management decisions contribute to the growth of business value?
  • How can we build a motivation system for company personnel? How can we use the psychological characteristics of personnel to increase individual and group performance?
  • How can we put the strategy into action? What are the methods of improving business processes and company activity? What actions will boost the value of business?

A Master’s in Public Administration, or MPA Program, is a degree that prepares students for a public service career, usually–but not exclusively–in an area of government. A public administration program teaches students governance, administration and finance, as well as analytical skills. Core coursework usually includes the study of public administration, administrative decision making, ethics, organizational theory, strategic planning, microeconomics, financial management and managerial statistics. The field of public administration is very broad, and students have a wide variety of tracks available to them. They may choose one of several possible concentrations, such as administration, organizational leadership, human resources management, city and county leadership, public service leadership, criminal justice, homeland security or health care administration, among others.

Through its history, the MPA degree has become more interdisciplinary by drawing from fields such as economics, sociology, law, anthropology, political science, and regional planning in order to equip MPA graduates with skills and knowledge covering a broad range of topics and disciplines relevant to the public sector. A core curriculum of a typical MPA program usually includes courses on microeconomics, public finance, research methods / statistics, policy process and policy analysis, public financial management, managerial accounting, ethics, public management, leadership, planning & Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and program evaluation/performance measurement. Depending on their interest, MPA students can focus their studies on a variety of public sector fields such as urban planning, emergency management, transportation, health care (especially public health), economic development, urban management, community development, education, non-profits, information technology, environmental policy, cultural policy, criminal justice, etc.

Careers

A public administration degree has very broad applicability. A masters in public administration prepares a student to create or implement government policy or programs, manage people or resources, perform policy analysis, manage human resources or organizational assets, and manage budgets—skills that may be utilized in any number of managerial careers. A public administration masters may be used as a springboard to an executive job in a large corporation or a managerial job at a nonprofit organization. It may result in a career as an urban planner, government policy analyst, lawyer, hospital executive or human resources manager. Graduates with a public administration masters are equipped with desirable skills that transfer easily from one sector to another.

Job Outlook

Demand for workers with a public administration degree is expected to be higher than average in the next decade, especially for chief executives, public relations specialists, general and operations managers, surveying technicians, financial examiners and climate change analysts. These jobs are expected to grow especially quickly and offer large numbers of job openings. Most of these jobs are in governance, rather than other areas of public administration, such as national security, planning or revenue.

Focus

Most students embark on a public administration program because they’re excited about the prospect of making a difference in the world. They look forward to making a difference in the lives of other people by creating or implementing positive change. An MPA degree, while eminently practical, is attractive for many because it offers the chance to translate idealistic dreams into present-day realities.
